It is the story of two great friends, women, artists, and Africans, whose life rhymes with nomadism, openness, and freedom: Hindi Zahra, Moroccan of Berber and Tuareg origin, and Fatoumata Diawara born in Côte d’Ivoire of Malian parents.
These two powerful artistic women met twelve years ago on the stage of the Olympic Café, the highlight of the Goutte D’or, a district crossroads-of-cultures in Paris. Since that groundbreaking encounter, both artists continued to perform across the globe, acting in films (The Cut by Fatih Akin – Hindi Zahra, Timbuktu by Abderrahmane Sissako – Fatou), appearing at TED conferences and taking part in various global humanitarian actions. They are warriors whose music is charged with the energy of encounters, found through the common roots in blues, folk and Africa.
After twelve years of bridging cultures and spreading modern Africa throughout the world, their paths will cross once again to perform songs for our greatest pleasure, and theirs.
