Our new Lost in Transmission mix opens to the dreamy folk sounds of Azniv Korkejian, better known as Bedouine, a gallicized riff on bedouin, the nomad, the wanderer. Solitary Daughter is taken her forthcoming self-titled album due out on 23 June. As is usual with this series there is both new and old.
In with the new is The Push and Pull from Joan Shelley‘s latest eponymous offering; Trummors from New Mexico and their new album Headlands; a track from Allison Pierce‘s solo debut album Year of the Rabbit. Another fine new release from Chris Bathgate (feat. Tunde Olaniran) and his new album Dizzy Seas. A new track from acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist Christopher Paul Stelling, taken from his latest album Itinerant Arias, out on Anti- Records now.
Older (rather than old) are three tracks from 2015: Amen Dunes rendering of Tim Buckley‘s Songs to the Siren (although he calls it a cover of a cover – This Mortal Coil) from Dunes’ Cowboy Worship; Cardamom from New York’s Weyes Blood’s Cardamom Times and Counterfitters from Meg Baird‘s Don’t Weigh Down the Light. Fitting in nicely is with this pretty chilled bunch is Memoirs, the single from Villagers, originally written for Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Trumping the lot in age is Early Blue, originally released in 1969 by F.J. McMahon on Spirit of the Golden Juice…an album that was made to cruise along to in a pickup on an open road.
Rounding it all off is the Dirty Three with Ember from their 2005 Cinder album.
Enjoy.
