As well celebrating their 15th Birthday this year (now sold-out), 2017 also marks Green Man Festival‘s 10th anniversary of Green Man Rising. This is their annual showdown between the best-unsigned acts in the UK and is also a great way of supporting and drawing attention to new independent artists.
They have just announced this year’s six finalists, who each compete for the coveted opening slot on the revered Mountain Stage at Green Man 2017.
The live final takes place on Wednesday 5 July at the Camden Assembly, entry to which is totally free.
Talking about the entries for this year they revealed that 2017 took the competition to an insane new level! “We had a record number of entries, and with so many skilled songsmiths on display, the task of whittling down the numbers to a core group finalists was painstakingly difficult.”
The gifted performers who made it to this year’s final are:
Siobhan Wilson, Keto, Bad Parents, Francobollo, Omaloma and SAP, here’s a taster….and I don’t envy the judges in picking between them.

They’ll be sharing with the likes of PJ Harvey, Ryan Adams, Future Islands and The Shins.
The finalists will be judged by a suitably esteemed panel of musos, featuring experts from Clash Magazine, 6music, Domino Records, Noisey, The Guardian, 4AD, CAA the Evening Standard and (of course) Green Man Festival. With an eclectic roster of musical styles ranging from space pop to lo-fi folk, they are confident it’s going to be one of the best yet.
So, six of Britain’s best-unsigned acts + a brand spanking new venue to boogie in + legendary Green Man vibes = one unforgettable night in the city. And it’s free! You’d be daft to miss it.
