Bill MacKay is a highly-regarded guitarist-composer-improviser based in Chicago who “has energized experimental folk, rock, and avant-garde scenes with his radiant songwriting, and creative and unpredictable approach to the guitar.” His latest album Esker, was released on Drag City Records who have just revealed his new video for Powder Mill Park. When Jack Kerouac was asked to define the term ‘Beat Generation’ he answered ‘Sympathetic’…a term easily applied to McKay’s guitar playing, it’s effortless and has a free-form feel that’s engaging without being showy, it just breezes along and takes you with it.
“Set in the austere backdrop of monochromatic black and white visuals, Bill MacKay‘s “Powder Mill Park“, is contrastingly bright and full of life! Shot on site in MacKay’s home state of Illinois, Director Dan Mohr captures the serene and harmonious composure of euphonious guitar.
“The scenery for “Powder Mill Park” is wide and expansive, with room for Bill to stretch, stroll and breath, much like the song itself! Free of the inhibitions and constraints that lyrical songs might possess, “Powder Mill Park” exhibits an effortlessly rich balance of tranquillity and deft musical proficiency.”
“Powder Mill Park” is a song taken from the full-length album “Esker”, out now on Drag City.
