Sound artist and performer Nathaniel Mann (Dead Rat Orchestra) was commissioned by New Dimensions to create a new work for Rushmoor. As part of the process, he researched the area’s rich history, focusing on its contribution to the development of aviation, and the more recent cultural links with Rushmoor’s Nepalese community.
SF Cody: A Rushmoor Epic celebrates some of these distinctive moments and includes new compositions which draw on the life and times of local aviation legend and cowboy, S.F Cody.
In developing the work Nathaniel collaborated with Farnborough-based 1st Naumati Baja Gulmi UK, a Nepalese band consisting of ex-Gurkha officers. The result is a unique and spectacular blend of traditional Nepalese Naumati Baja music and British folk.
An album is currently in the works and will be released on Antigen Records. As well as the 1st Naumati Baja Gulmi UK it features lo-fi folkie Keto and space jazz freestylings from Tye McGivern of Sealionwoman.
A CD recording of SF Cody: A Rushmoor Epic is to be released by Antigen Records http://antigenrecords.com/
