I’ve an extra long mix this week to make up for the gap between this and the last one. As always it’s a good’un but this one is a real gem. It opens to some of my favourite female vocalists before hitting a lovely folk twist courtesy of Bert Jansch and Karen Dalton followed by a rare gem by Alex Neilson, Lavinia Blackwall, Michael Flower and Alasdair Roberts.
Things drift along nicely including a lovely rendition of She Moved Through The Fair by Gemma Khawaja followed by another bundle of uplifting tunes including Holly Arrowsmith and the recently featured The Mae Trio, Tyler Sjöström and Avi Jacob. After this C Joynes will prepare you for the acoustic left hook which comes via Tim Eriksen which segues beautifully, and loudly, into Castanets (mix image) and a great demo recording from Sufjan Stevens. Things mellow again for the finale via The Monks Kitchen, The Owl Service (with a BBC Session) and Thirty Pounds of Bone signs it all off with The Ballad Of Cootehill.
Enjoy.
