Our Song of the Day is Heart Of A Home by The Medlars, a seven-piece contemporary folk band based in London. They formed after meeting at university in 2016 through Jimmy Grayburn, who at the time was performing as a solo artist.
Heart of a Home is their new single, taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut album. It’s a dark, driving transportation to the Arizonan desert. It starts with the groaning soundscape of a rusted oil pump before being thrown into a story of how our lives are becoming more dependent on oil-based consumer products. The heart of a home is now a plastic one.
Don’t miss their London pre-release showcase on Thursday 23rd March at The Courtyard Theatre hosted by the Woodburner with support from Apple of my Eye.
The Medlars is released on the 5th May via Pear o’Legs Records
