Canada’s The East Pointers return to the UK for another intense run of energy fueled dates including Gate to Southwell, Orkney Folk Festival and London’s Green Note Cafe (full dates below). The band will be showcasing music from their much anticipated second album, due for release in the Autumn 2017. Recorded in Nashville, Tennesse, and produced by Gordie Sampson – the album promises to be one of the key releases for 2017 – as The East Pointers continue to become increasingly popular and more widely recognised across the UK.
Formed in 2014, each member of The East Pointers – banjoist/vocalist/step-dancer Koady Chaisson, fiddle player/vocalist Tim Chaisson, and guitarist/vocalist Jake Charron – is an accomplished musician in his own right, and their union produces a blend of Celtic tunes, songs and step-dances molded into something uniquely Canadian through a history which goes back generations.
The cousins Tim and Koady Chaisson come from Canada’s Prince Edward Island on the exposed Atlantic coast. Here, through six generations of performances and playing, the Chaisson Family have written themselves into the island’s music history – Whilst, friend and collaborator, Jake Charron would visit PEI from his home in Ontario – The East Pointers were born out of kitchen parties, fiddles, friends, banjo’s and guitars – with plenty of Guinness and bad jokes to boot.
