Blackberry Lane is taken from the upcoming debut album ‘Siren Serenade‘ from Emily Mae Winters, due for release this April. Building upon the transatlantic sounds of her critically acclaimed EP ‘Foreign Waters‘, the record blends together the traditional and modern instrumental sounds of folk and country music.
Blackberry Lane is the opening track on the album and tells the story of Winters’ move to Cambridgeshire. As well as Winters on vocals and guitar, the track features acoustic guitar from BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, Ben Walker (musical partner to Josienne Clarke) and dobro from Ben Savage (of Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage). The album draws inspiration from poetry, myths and stories of love, loss, fate and memory. Emily has recently returned from Kansas City, USA, where she appeared at the prestigious Folk Alliance International with the English Folk Song and Dance Society (EFDSS) through whom she received a scholarship to attend and showcase there. Emily kept busy on the road, throughout 2016, opening for some of the best on the folk circuit, including artists such as Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage, Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, Adam Holmes and the Embers, Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, and Jim Moray.
She embarks on her own headline tour in support of her album release on the 14th April – full tour details are listed below.
