Contemporary folk duo Gilmore & Roberts are set to hit the road with brand new songs (and some old favourites) at the beginning of March, covering Germany, the Netherlands and England with their spring tour.
Following the release of their newest studio album ‘Conflict Tourism‘ in 2015 (which received national airplay on BBC Radio 2 & 6music), the duo released their first live album ‘In Our History‘ in November 2016 to mark a decade of playing together, ten years to the day since their first EP release. Hailed as ‘a sizeable canon of fine original material’ by Folk Radio UK, the album is available exclusively at gigs and from www.gilmoreroberts.co.uk/shop in a limited, hand-numbered edition.
Folk Radio UK’s Rob Bridge also interviewed the duo recently in which they talked in depth about their musical development, challenges and creativity.
“It’s funny seeing how it’s developed” Jamie observes. “When we started, there was a generation above us that were big on the scene at the time…people like Nancy and James, Spiers and Boden, Faustus…people like that who were really big at the time and we looked up to them. Now we’re at the level that they were then and we can see all these younger people coming through…people ten years younger than us, which is both amazing and kind of scary! It’s so cool to see so many incredible acts coming out of nowhere.”
