Watch Morning Sun, a video premiere from London-based songwriter Lee Endres. The video features actress Daisy King and was filmed and edited by Chris Jackson. The song is taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Croft.‘ He shared the following with us about Morning Song:
Morning Sun is a song that illustrates a generation age gap. More specifically the song is about a father teaching his son about the importance of work. It’s part of the larger concept of my album ‘Croft’; demonstrating a new, stripped back and organic approach to my songwriting. To reflect this my video has a very simple narrative. The actor stoically signs along with the lyrics but without mouthing the words. It’s not until the end that she stops gesturing and joins in with the mantra. Without giving too much away the ending is meant to symbolise the carrying away of one’s demons; though, obviously, it will be interpreted in any way you choose.
After a three-month trip to Scotland, and having found a quiet space buffeted by the Atlantic Ocean to write and record; Lee Endres is now releasing his debut album, Croft.
The Scottish Highlands helped provide the context to ‘Croft’s’ milieu. From the outset, helped along by the album’s organic and sparse instrumentation, we are introduced to the author’s “psychogeography” and hear plainly the guilt and fear that are universal in artists obsessed by their art.
