Two years ago we featured a Song of the Day from Austin Basham, an independent folk singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas. Since then he seems to have gone from strength to strength, helped along by ‘Find A Way‘ featuring in HBO series Roadies and hit single ‘All is Well‘ clocking up over 16.7 million plays on Spotify. He also toured Europe last month with Radical Face which has broadened his fanbase still further.
Sounds Like Help is his new single which is available to download and stream everywhere from 2nd December. A stripped down guitar-start builds subtly with some imaginative accompaniment with harmonies courtesy of Othalie Husøy and muted brass before it picks out a lolloping upbeat percussive stride complete with choral voices. While that may all sound grand it’s delivered in such a way that you never lose touch with Basham’s very singular voice which remains at the front…where he sounds best. We’re looking forward to the album…
