Danny Green, aka Laish, is set to release his third album Pendulum Swing this coming Friday on 4 November 2016 via Talitres. A set of twelve songs that span the spectrum of gentle fingerpicked acoustic guitar ballads, through to more robust art-rock jams. Laish’s plaintive tenor – rich, deeply textured and affecting – takes centre stage as he sings honest, self-reflective songs of relationships failed and survived. Danny shared this about the album:
“Moving to the capital was a deeply unsettling time for me. Both of the bands I had been a part of in Brighton had fallen apart. I was recently single and I was broke. It was a real sink or swim moment for me and I think my friends and family were worried. I soon got swept up in the tide of the city. I found new love, I found new work. What seemed ugly on first glance, I started to see as beautiful. It is an incredibly inspiring place to be and the people that surround you are full of such strength and spirit.
I was invited to perform at the Union Chapel on my birthday so I took the opportunity to ask my friends and favourite singers to join me as a makeshift choir. This still remains one of my favourite ever shows and gave me the impetus I needed to book Dave Gerard’s studio in London and make a start on recording the new songs. It was the most enjoyable recording experience I have had so far. Despite the sometimes emotionally raw content of the songs, I hope the joy comes through.”
