Watch the latest video from Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage below. What’s It Tonight My Love is our Song of the Day and is taken from their debut album Before the Sun, a recently Featured Album of the Month on Folk Radio UK (read the album review here). Produced by David Bentley & Chris Slade the film features actors James Dylan Thomson & Julia Susanne Orlich. The song is inspired the Celtic folklore tale, the Lady of the Lake, in which she finally takes Gwyn’s offering of half-baked bread and allows him to lead her to land after which they wed. These videos, collectively known as the ‘New Moon videos,’ are released to coincide with the lunar cycle. This video was originally published on September 1st, read more below.
Rob Bridge recently interviewed Hannah and Ben for Folk Radio UK in which they discussed, amongst other things, the lunar cycle. The videos are released to coincide with a ‘new moon’ (the point when the moon and the sun have the same ecliptical longitude occurring on average every 29 days).
The idea that there’s some relationship between the lunar cycle and human behaviour is a popular theory, with origins that can be traced back as far as ancient Babylonian writing…
It’s certainly a concept that appeals to Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage; “We’re very interested in cosmic patterns” Hannah explains, “the idea of rhythms…that there are bigger rhythms in the world and making sure that our work is in harmony with them. The new moon is a time associated with new beginnings and the inception of projects.” Read the full interview here.
Hannah and Ben are currently touring their album, see dates below.
