We have the great pleasure of sharing with you the new video from London-based trio TEYR. The video for False Lady was filmed live at their London album launch, which I’m sure many of you will recognise as The Old Queens Head. It features Dominic Henderson (on vocals and whistle), Tommie Black-Roff (on accordion), James Gavin (on guitar). The track is taken from their album Far From the Tree, one of our Featured Albums of the Month (read the album review here). The band shared this about the song:
A Scottish murder ballad, Dominic first heard this performed by John Doyle at the Union Chapel in London. Its many versions occasionally go by the names ‘Young Hunting’, ‘Earl Richard’ or ‘ Love Henry’. The narrative arc, from crime to madness to escape was an irresistible framework for reworking.
