Our Tune of the Day comes from Dublin fiddler Aidan Connolly whose playing is influenced by the likes of Paddy Cronin, Paddy Canny, and Denis Murphy. Paddy Cronin’s Own, As a Thoiseach, John Blessing’s Reels is taken from his debut album Be Off which is due for release this week on Raelach Records and features a 16-page booklet with photographs and notes on tracks and guest musicians. I was mesmerised by this beautiful set of reels which I heard for the first time last week…the album was promptly ordered! A name to watch for.
Across sixteen tracks, this remarkably accomplished album features music from a breathtaking range of sources.
Guest musicians: Pauric Bannon (flute); Liam McGonigle (accordion); Andrea Palandri (fiddle); Con Moynihan (fiddle); Deirdre Winrow (fiddle); Oisín Morrison (flute); Páraic Keane (pipes); Fergus McGorman (flute); Ruairí McGorman (bouzouki); Jack Talty (piano).
