Willy Vlautin and his cult Portland outfit have shared a live take of ‘Night In The City‘ ahead of their farewell string of UK dates, culminating at London Electric Ballroom on October 21 (see full dates below).
Richmond Fontaine’s swansong was signalled in early 2016 by much-loved frontman & songwriter Willy Vlautin, just ahead of the release of the band’s critically applauded 10th and final album You Can’t Go Back If There’s Nothing To Go Back To, also topping the Americana charts & ma k e Rough Trade’s Album of the Month slot.
Though Richmond Fontaine will disband following the final date s this month , Vlautin will be kept busy between his other band The Delines (whose 2014 debut was also a Rough Trade Album of the Year) and a successful parallel career as a novelist. Published by Faber & Faber and feted by fellow writers Donna Tartt and Roddy Doyle, Willy’s novel Lean On Pete is currently shooting as a film adaptation directed by Stephen Haigh (45 Years), starring Steve Buscemi and Chloe Sevigny.
