Reaching back to their raw and energetic sessions for “Gets Loaded”, a critically lauded revisiting of the seminal The Velvet Underground album, Hollis Brown have re-teamed with Don DiLego for their brand new single, ‘Run Right To You’, due to be released on 7” vinyl on 28th October via One Little Indian and Velvet Elk Records in the states. The Americana Folk band have also announced a UK and EU tour, throughout October and November.

From vocalist Mike Montali’s raw lead to Jonathan Bonilla’s ragged guitar solo, ‘Run Right To You’ captures the essence of Hollis Brown, a growing live act that has embarked upon ambitious USA, UK and EU amphitheater tours with the likes of Counting Crows, The Zombies, and Citizen Cope. The single was recorded deep in the woods of Northeast PA, with a live classic B-side track – a cover of Jesse Malin’s “She Don’t Love Me Now”.
Named after a Bob Dylan song (“The Ballad of Hollis Brown”), the band was formed by Queens-natives and songwriters Mike Montali (lead vocals/guitar) and Jonathan Bonilla (lead guitar). Both 2nd-generation immigrants (Italian-American and Puerto Rican-American, respectively), they soon found their musical brethren across America, recruiting Andrew Zehnal (drums) from Cleveland, Adam Bock (keyboard/vocals) from St. Louis, and Brian Courage (bass) from Long Island.
The band’s output has steadily evolved from the raw immediacy of its early releases to the more expansive, adventurous approach that fuels their acclaimed 2015 album, ‘3 Shots’. The group collaborated with the late great Bo Diddley for ‘Rain Dance’, the lead single taken from the album, which has been featured on the soundtrack for the forthcoming movie The Founder, starring Michael Keaton.
The independent act has achieved a significant amount of success since their formation in 2009. They released their debut album ‘Ride On The Train’ in 2013 (produced by Adam Landry), garnering song and video premieres from Rolling Stone, Paste, and American Songwriter, along with music placements on Direct TV’s “Kingdom,” Showtime’s “Shameless,” MTV’s “Real World,” and the Willem Dafoe/Matt Dillon film “Bad Country”. Following a Lou Reed tribute concert in NYC, the band recorded a tribute to the Velvet Underground’s classic album Loaded, as a limited-edition vinyl release for Record Store Day 2014. Hollis Brown Gets Loaded took on a life of its own, with airplay on influential radio stations, resulting in a full CD & digital release.
