Jack Cheshire Band have announced their new single Visitations, which will be released on 25th November and is also our Song of the Day.
Following the release of the 2013 album Long Mind Hotel (read our review here), the psych-folk band recently holed themselves away for eleven months whilst working on their fourth album, Black Light Theatre. Influenced by the likes of Can, Grizzly Bear, Television and notably, David Foster Wallace, and produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Bat For Lashes), it will be released early next year. Jack says:
“I put myself in isolation for a few weeks. I approached songwriting as a job and kept certain hours. Got up at half eight, started work at half nine, and finished around seven. I didn’t see or speak to anyone for this period. I had the nucleus of an album but the music was in a state of flux so the songs were drafted, redrafted and lived with.”
New single Visitations straddles darkness and light and is a discreetly bold track which lures you in with its intriguing arrangements and melodies and warm vocal. A spiralling, multi-layered hallucination, it alludes to various themes; echoes from the past, transience, dreams & the supernatural. The video, shot between a London and Vienna summer this year, will premiere soon.
Jack Cheshire Band will be launching their new single with a headline show at London’s The Finsbury on 22nd November. Tickets are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/370145.
Jack Cheshire Band are Jack Cheshire (vocals and guitar), Jon Scott (drums), Andrea Di Biase (double bass) and David Pearson (guitar).
