Despite the breadth of today’s folk music, it remains a small world. That’s something I continue to get reminded of when we lose one of our valued musicians, something which seems to be happening with increasing regularity but that may also be my age.
When a much-loved musician like Angus Grant (the fiddle player of Shooglenifty) is lost to this world, it’s not long before the memories come pouring back. I was pleased that Neil agreed to write the tribute to Angus, which you can read here, the “The whirling dervish”, a term bestowed upon him by Angus, seemed to make him the right man for the job. In the same token, if there’s a right man for the job of putting together a mix then it has to be DJ Dolphin Boy…here it is and it’s mighty! Share wide.
