To mark the release The Gentle Good‘s (Cardiff singer-songwriter and folk musician Gareth Bonello) fourth album Ruins/Adfeilion we have been running a series of video exclusives which were recorded at The Gate Arts Centre in Cardiff. Below you can watch the final offering for Un i Sain Ffagan (One for Saint Fagans). We’ve really enjoyed showing these videos but it’s far from over as we have more on Gareth’s new album coming very soon.
Gareth shared the following the song:
Un i Sain Ffagan (One for Saint Fagans) Saint Fagans: National History Museum is a large outdoor museum just outside Cardiff. It houses a large social history collection, including an extensive folk song archive, which was my first contact with traditional Welsh music. Until recently I worked for the Museum’s learning department and so I wrote this guitar instrumental as a farewell. It is loosely based on Welsh fiddle tunes although I’ve incorporated some of my other influences as well. For any guitar aficionados out there, the guitar is tuned to the popular Celtic tuning DADGAD.
