I had the pleasure of catching The Goat Roper Rodeo Band at Purbeck Valley Folk Festival this year where they went down a massive treat with the audience who were hooked before they’d finished their first song. Whenever I see them, they remind of the Incredible String Band crossed with Hank Williams. That may sound like a strange concoction but on their latest album, they nail that sound in the album title ‘Cosmic Country Blue‘ and I love it. One thing is for sure, this young trio from North Wales sure know how to make a song work and those beautiful harmonies crossed with an unfiltered passion take them to a new all-time high. Check the video premiere (and our Song of the Day) for their new single ‘Old Heartache‘ below in which they sing of hurt, lies, and self-doubt with no happy ending in sight. Young guys with old souls indeed…
The Goat Roper Rodeo Band are taking their show on the road this month on the run up to the release of their second album ‘COSMIC COUNTRY BLUE’ released on October 7, 2016, through Aveline Records. The album was produced by Romeo Stodart (Magic Numbers) at Doghouse Studios in London and mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
If you fancy catching some Country Cosmic Blues live, and we highly recommend that you do, then try and catch them on one of their live dates below including London’s The Green Note for their album launch on 7th October (tickets here).
