Seattle-based duo Cahalen Morrison & Eli West draw on influences from bluegrass, old-time and folk to create a special blend of their own. With breathtaking brother duet-style harmonies and accomplished but subtle playing on mandolin, guitar, clawhammer banjo and octave mandolin, Cahalen and Eli have won many friends across the UK in recent years, and have featured in session for Bob Harris as well as performing several times at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival.
Morrison’s an accomplished songwriter and their repertoire consists largely of originals as well as a sprinkling of traditional songs and old time country covers. The duo has recorded three albums and toured extensively since getting together around six years ago. Their fans and collaborators include such roots music luminaries as Tim O’Brien, Bruce Molsky, Kris Drever and Dirk Powell. Their UK tour kicks off this week.
