We have a track premiere below from two-time Juno award-winning Canadian Americana singer-songwriter Jenny Whiteley. 100 Dollars is from her new record The Original Jenny Whiteley, which releases on September 16, 2016, and is distributed worldwide by Black Hen Music. Written by Chris Coole, 100 Dollars is a valentine to the working musician.
A homage to Jenny’s musical heritage, the spirited tunes on The Original Jenny Whiteley, range from folk, blues, bluegrass, jug band to old time and early jazz (the soundtrack to Whiteley’s childhood), mixed with a handful of new original songs as well. She’s accompanied by a rich array of roots instruments including jug, banjo, guitar, harmonica, fiddle, bones, jaw harp and some rather impressive whistling!
The album is also a celebration of her rich musical roots. “I grew up in a family of musicians and played in our family Jug Band as a kid, while my dad and uncle had musical careers following many roots music paths, allowing me to live, breathe and sing traditional music at music festivals, live shows and especially in the living room! My first professional singing gigs were probably when I was around eight years old.”
The Original Jenny Whiteley is out on September 16, 2016, via Black Hen Music.
