Scottish songwriter Rachel Sermanni has unveiled her video for the brooding Run, her latest single and the opening cut from her 2015 album Tied to the Moon which saw her taking a new and refreshing approach to her music. When Mike reviewed the album on FRUK (read it here) he made the observation that the album was “a more sonically robust and grittier collection”.
Whilst some may have struggled with the transition from the quiet folk of Under Mountains (listen to her FRUK Session here) to music with a darker shade and swagger it made a positive lasting impression on us with Mike summing it up as a hugely impressive album. We weren’t alone as the album is longlisted in the Scottish Album of the Year Awards (SAY Awards).
The video was co-produced by Rachel & Mike Guest who has also worked with the likes of Martin Green of Lau and Breabach.
You can catch Rachel over the summer at a number of festivals including Killin Music Festival and Belladrum in Scotland as well as Cambridge Folk Festival where she’ll be performing on The Den stage alongside some other well known names.
