We are delighted to share with you ‘Burn Away‘, the new video from Megson, taken from their forthcoming new album Good Times Will Come Again (released on May 27th 2016).
They shared this with us about the song:
Its a song about Steel, Iron and the industrial language of the blast furnaces. The iron & steelmaking process is not the most obvious source of inspiration for a songwriter but being from Teesside it is somehow in our blood. The industrial language of steelmaking is in danger of being forgotten but it is full of colour and energy and easily sparks the imagination.
Original footage is taken from one of the documentaries that inspired the song, The British Steel Industry (Iron & Steelworks) – 1945 Educational Documentary. This footage has been made available courtesy the British Council Film Collection.
‘The backbone of Britain’s industrial power lies in her great Steel Industry. In the blast furnaces, forges, rolling mills, and machine shops labour vast numbers of highly skilled craftsmen who, for generations, have devoted their lives to serving a great tradition known the world over – the tradition of British Steel.’
