Big Bad Good is the latest offering from Scandinavian duo My Bubba (My Larsdotter and Bubba Tomasdottir), out this week (April 15) via their own label Cash Only.
This time around they turned to Shahzad Ismaily to produce their album. Shahzad is well known for his work with the likes of Sam Amaidon, Bill Frisell, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and many more. A comment on the duo’s Instagram summed up his involvement perfectly:
A friend visiting the studio said the songs sounded like ‘milk from another planet; simultaneously strange and familiar’. We were the cow. Shahzad was the milk maid.
Talking about the album on their Pledge Campaign they explained: “The songs on Big Bad Good were recorded as they were written, and most of the takes are among the first times the songs were ever sung – allowing the record to portray the immediate rawness and intimacy of a newborn song. A very precious and elusive state, and one of our favorite places to be.”
Here’s their latest video for Charm.
