BBC Folk Awards – Good Tradition Award
John will also be performing at the BBC Folk Awards on 27th April where he will be honoured with the Good Tradition Award for his contribution to the preservation, dissemination and progression of traditional music over a number of years. John will perform with his own band and with Mark Knopfler.
John commented:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be receiving the Good Tradition Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. I’ve spent most of my life since the age of six playing traditional music and this year I celebrate 25 as a professional musician. To be recognised in this way by BBC Radio 2 is a real honour. I’m really looking forward to the ceremony and playing at the Royal Albert Hall again with Mark Knopfler and also with my own band – it’s going to be a brilliant night!”
