Ewan McLennan: Arthur McBride – In Session

The above live video features Scottish guitarist, troubadour, balladeer and storyteller Ewan McLennan. It is part of a Folk Radio UK video feature for which Ewan has recorded a series of songs around a single microphone, one from each of his three studio albums as well as a song he has recently written.

For his latest, he recorded ‘Arthur McBride’, from his first album, Rags & Robes. This is what he had to say about the song in the original sleeve notes: “The compelling story of this song seems to turn up again and again in the traditional repertoires of many of the English-speaking countries – it was clearly an issue that was commonly experienced over the centuries. This particular version is from Ireland.”
