In his review of the Afro Celt Sound System’s latest mighty offering ‘The Source‘ Neil ended by saying
“Afro Celt Sound System will be bringing The Source to festival audiences throughout the summer, I can guarantee it’s a unique and unmissable spectacle, every bit as energetic and captivating as this album.” Read the Review
If those summer festival dates excited you then the prospect of a 17 Date UK Tour should be the icing on the cake as the European and African based collective get ready to bring their exhilarating shows which sold-out at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival and Islington’s Assembly Halls in North London to the rest of the UK.
Afro Celt Sound System LIVE features the core band members Simon Emmerson, Guinean vocalist, kora and balafon virtuoso N’Faly Kouyate and charismatic dhol master Johnny Kalsi, along with percussionist Robbie Harris and fiddle-player Eòghann MacEanruig, Ged Lynch on drums, Simon ‘Palmskin’ Richmond on keyboards and electronica and Val Etienne on backing vocals, with the gritty, witty rhymes of Gaelic rapper, musician and language activist Griogair. On some shows, the band will be joined by the hauntingly soulful Armagh-born vocalist and flautist Rioghnach Connolly and the devotional harmonies of the Guinean female quintet Les Griottes.
