It’s been a hell of a week for great music here on Folk Radio UK and that’s about to get better thanks to a Song of the Day from Rachel Ries. Rachel leaves the prairies of middle America for UK shores this month to tour her new Cardinal EP (available via Bandcamp) from which we have the pleasure of premiering her new video for Winding Road below:
Cardinal is a handcrafted EP of songs written while on residency in Rouen, France. For Rachel, each of the songs is a key; a direction; a red-blooded essential for living – be it bravery, belief in one’s path or the bonds of family and blood.
Recorded in Minneapolis by the inimitable Jeremy Messersmith, Cardinal is Rachel’s second handcrafted EP and follows in the wake of 2014’s Ghost Of A Gardener.
Below are Rachel’s UK dates which include the Green Note in London as well as a special evening being run by our good friends Songs from the Shed (www.songsfromtheshed.com). We have a pair of tickets for the evening to giveaway, details of which are below:

We have a pair of tickets to giveaway to see Rachel Ries (w. Sarah Smout) on Thursday 10 March (doors 7:30pm) at Kenn Village Hall (Somerset, nr. Clevedon – see map).
This will be a an intimate candlelit acoustic performance. Kenn Village Hall has a beautiful charm and this will be a magical evening.
