We recently shared with you a new music video from Bristol-based Japanese experimental singer-songwriter, instrument-maker and performance artist ICHI. The song ‘2 Klaxons’ (watch it here) is from his third album Maru which will be released via Lost Map Records on March 18th.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been fascinated with ICHI as an artist for a while, ever since Rachael Dadd, his wife and another FRUK favourite, sent me a demo (image below) a few years ago. I’d never heard music like it before and I’ve not heard anything like it since. This new mini-documentary by James & Mark Hankins reveals a little more about the fascinating musical world of ICHI.
ICHI will be touring the UK and Japan following his album release (see dates below), and will launch his new album with a party at the Total Refreshment Centre in London on Thursday, March 24
