SERA shared this about Waterside:
“Waterside was a song I wrote quite a long time ago on the piano – It’s about the passing of time, regret and longing. But also the idea of hope, resolution and love. The story of this song is very vivid in my mind, and plays out like a film. A woman returning to a place of special meaning and significance to an equally important person from her past. ‘Water’ has always been an important theme in my music – I’m surrounded by it here in North West Wales and so many of my memories are connected to it. The track features Sion Lewis and Jenn Williams on strings, and was also recorded with Eddie Al- Shakarchi in Cardiff.”
Talking about the new single she added “The songs show two sides to my music and my album. Creative Side being an up-beat, hooky Americana song on guitar, with the piano-led Waterside showing the more emotional and expressive tone also on the album. I believe Folkstock can help introduce my music to a wider audience, and it feels amazing to be a part of of the Folkstock community of artists.”
No stranger to the spotlight, SERA’s songs have been played across the UK, and her song ‘Melody’ has also been used in numerous ad campaigns, in the SKY show ‘Stella’ and in the BAFTA Cymru winning independent film ‘Dancing in Circles.’ She was also a finalist in the Song for Wales (Can i Gymru) TV show in both 2009 and 2015. She has toured in America, and also has a Masters Degree in Screenwriting and writes a music column in the North Wales Daily Post, as well as organises various music and arts events with CEG, a musicians’ collective.
I hope we get to hear more from SERA soon, her music deserves a much wider audience.
