We have another great song premiere to share with you from Mairearad Green’s stunning new album Summer Isles. This is Star of Hope which features King Creosote and is also our Song of the Day.
Mairearad shared this with us about the song:
Star of Hope is the name of a trading boat from Orkney that used to come to Tanera Mor. The local shop in Achiltibuie was started by a family from this boat and there are many other families settled in Achiltibuie now that came from this boat. After writing the song, I knew that it would suit a male voice better than mine and King Creosote was the ideal choice. A friend of mine who has worked with King Creosote before put us in touch and I was so chuffed that he liked the song and was up for singing it on this album. His voice is really perfect for ‘Star of Hope’ and it has really made the song. Since this collaboration, I have now played pipes on his forthcoming album.
We’ll be brining you more on Summer Isles very soon.
Summer Isles is released on February 26th 2016 via Buie Records.
