The Skellig islands are made up of two islands Little Skellig and Skellig Michael which can be found in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. The islands are not only an attraction for birds such as the northern gannet (Little Skellig has 30,000 pairs) but have also served as an inspiration to musicians and film-makers. Clannad wrote a song called Skellig which featured on their 1987 Album Sirius and Skellig Michael featured in the final scene of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in which you can also see the remains of the sixth-century Christian monastery depicted as an ancient Jedi temple! Folk Radio UK favourites Jiggy have now joined the throng of admirers and dedicated their latest tune to Skellig, the video for which serves as a showcase for the band and the islands.
Jiggy features the talents of traditional musicians; Daire Bracken (fiddle), Aoife Kelly (fiddle), Éamonn Galldubh (uilleann pipes), Éamonn De Barra (flute & whistle), Robbie Harris (percussion), Niwel Tsumbu (guitar & Vocals) and Yoshi Izumi (bass) who have teamed up with DJ Jack on the decks.
