We have a lovely video premiere to share with you today from Kelly Oliver. Miles to Tralee is Kelly’s new single which she tells us was inspired by the story of her Grandmother:
“My song Miles To Tralee is based on the story of my Grandmother, who was born in Tralee, Ireland, and moved over to London after the war in order to find work. She met my Grandfather on her way to work and the rest is history! Set in London, the video shows me walking the streets, telling her story and imagining the longing she might have felt to return to her home in Tralee one day”
The singer songwriter has been garnering plenty of praise from the likes of Bob Harris and The Times who wrote that she was successfully ‘blending traditional values with bold indie pop sensibility’. This latest single is sure to add to that quota and is, in our opinion, her strongest release to date.
The single is released on November 20th and will be on Kelly’s second album coming out on March 6th 2016. The song also opens a specially released compilation DOWNTOWN which Folkstock are launching at the London Folk and Roots Festival for which Kelly is headlining on Weds 11th November. You can catch Kelly tonight (27th) opening the ‘Rising Stars of Folk’ for Time Out London at The Electric Palace.
Tickets for 11th November can be found here.
