The Great Divide is the debut single from Edgar Wallace Exchange, a newly formed alt-folk quartet, based in London. The track was recorded at Spiritual Bar, Camden and was produced by Ben Walker, winner of this years BBC2 Folk Award (for best duo with Josienne Clarke). With its driving nylon-guitar picking, bouncing, baião rhythms and crashing piano at the close, The Great Divide is a dream-like exploration of distance, longing and air travel.
Edgar Wallace Exchange are Cameron Niven on guitar & vocals who has previously featured on Folk Radio UK (read our review of his Tick Tock EP here and listen to his Folk Radio Session). On piano is Caroline Niven, on bass Graham Brice and in drums is Jon Wiltshire.
The Great Divide will be released on 28th October through independent London label Spiritual Records preceding the band’s debut EP, set to launch in early December.
