We have a song premiere today from English folk singer and songwriter Maz O’Connor. When the Whisky Runs Dry is the final track on her new album ‘The Longing Kind‘ which will be released on February 26th 2016 on her own brand new label ‘Restless Head’. She told us “For me it’s the upbeat, hopeful ending that ties up the narrative of the album as a whole; it moves from a place of longing and confusion to one of defiance and optimism.”

Maz was kind enough to share some background on the album:
“It’s my first album of entirely original songs. Jim Moray produces again. We recorded it earlier this year in Jim’s studio in Bristol after I was given a grant by the BBC Performing Arts Fund to make it independently, and that’s how I’m able to release it on my own label ‘Restless Head’.
“It’s an album exploring different kinds of longing, belonging, homes, families. It’s about how we use different shortcuts to try and figure out who and what we are, through relationships and love and place.”
We’ll be bringing you more on Maz’s album soon. In the meantime if you book tickets for her upcoming tour before 30th November you will get an exclusive unreleased and *free* track from the new album to download. The offer is limited to around 10 tickets per venue so be quick!
