I recently read that Unorthodox Paradox are to hold a festival this year at the old Sineater Festival site (was a great festival but no longer runs), namely The Bridges in Ratlinghope, Shropshire…and it’s looking interesting…
So for those of you that like things a bit different (in a good way), and are after a smaller and much more intimate experience than that offered by the many over-priced festivals about (a full weekend at Unorthodox Paradox costs just £30) then this could be the answer.
The festival takes place on 11th / 12th / 13th September 2015 and offers a range of diverse and eclectic music and performance, from the calming & pastoral to the wildly psychedelic, and from in-your-face rock to out there electronica.
Artists include:
The legendary Paddy Steer who Graham Massey (808 State) described as sounding “like a Swiss cuckoo clock made of egg boxes and horsehair, glued together by an African Moog player in a Vietnamese iron monger’s shop”. Paddy played in Toolshed which was founded by Massey in ’98.
Nick Jonah Davis who hails from Nottingham, England and it was his discovery of prewar blues and modal British folk upon which he began to develop his improvisational skills.
dbh (Dan Bridgwood-Hill) featured on the latest Tompkins Square’s guitar compilation, Imaginational Anthem Vol. 7 compiled by Hayden Pedigo. His latest album, Mood, was released this year on Thread Recordings

Bingo Harry – “an eccentric Astro Pop four piece from Manchester, inspired by the solar system, fuelled by the juices of distant planets and determined to bring peace to Earth!”
Local Shropshire band Glowpeople – Improvisational and spacey, with a touch of jazz.
This will be Mistys Big Adventure 3rd gig at Unorthodox Paradox…that says a lot.
Matt Panesh aka The Monkey Poet: “A regular fixture now at Unorthodox Paradox, and we’re incredibly lucky to have him – his performance of ‘300’ at Fellfoot Wood was spellbinding and a highlight of the weekend. Matt will be curating the indoor stage for UP Midland Edition, and that can only bring lunacy and wonder in equal measure…”
Tekla from Manchester “presents beautiful dream-like composition with a stunning voice and entrancing performance.”
