Low Moor Rising are a Leeds-based folk collective comprising of Spencer Bayles (also of indie-pop duo Last Night’s TV) along with Emma Parker and Sarah Bayles (from sea shanty group The Ocean Loiners).
The trio first got together to record a version of The Seeds of Love in response to Radio 2’s call for submissions in celebration of Cecil Sharp’s 2014 induction into the Hall of Fame. Following that initial collaboration, the trio decided to set about setting some traditional folk song lyrics to new melodies and arrangements, culminating in this debut single release.
Over The Hills And Far Away / She Draws Her Cloak Around Her is their first single which is currently available via their Bandcamp page – lowmoorrising.bandcamp.com, you can listen to it below. We’re looking forward to hearing more from what sounds like a very promising future.
They are planning a new EP for later in 2015.
