Our Song of the Day comes by way of a new video from that inventive Derbyshire trio Haiku Salut for Bleak and Beautiful (All Things) which is the first track from their forthcoming new album Etch And Etch Deep due for release on 31st July.
The new album comes two years after their debut “Tricolore” (read our review here) which saw them embarking on a tour of interesting spaces with Lau. Anyone that had a chance to catch their lamp show in which a stageful of vintage lamps were programmed to flash, fade and flicker in time to the music would have been left with an unforgettable memory.
Their new album promises more as this trio never seem to rest and, to our ears, they continue to blossom and surprise. They recently shared this about the album title:
“We went to Norway for a show last year where everything was a little overwhelming and humbling, “ says Sophie. “I think it was the mountains that did that. The people that lived in the tiny village had a huge respect for the landscape, weather and nature that we had never really considered. It changed how I viewed the world and the questionable feeling of coping that came along with that. The album title refers to that. There is nobody controlling your future, you take responsibility for yourself. You make your own meaning.”
