As part of our ongoing coverage of Beyond The Marches / Dros y Ffin we have the latest post from David Gibb which you can read below. You can tell they’re over half-way through as that bottle has been well and truely opened with the first word of the entry being ‘Rum’.
Don’t miss the final concerts, details of which are at the end of this post.
Day Four: David Gibb
Rum, sunshine, Disney, music and laughter. That’s probably the best way to describe the Beyond Marches project over the last 48 hours. Last night we rocked up at Lloyd George’s house where we’re staying until Saturday morning. It’s an absolutely amazing place full of history and nooks and crannies – the perfect place to write and play music.
Last night was spent rehearsing till about 12:30 am and then spent the next two hours drinking rum, singing Disney songs and playing the classic game of ‘would you rather’. We all went off to bed full of music, laughter and alcohol.
This morning was our first lie in of the week, with Archie winning the prize of last down to breakfast at around 10:45am. He then spent the rest of the day in his pyjamas earning both amusement and respect. The songs flowed thick and fast today with a short break to be interviewed by BBC Wales, who were doing a feature on the project for their folk show.
The music is starting to sound really lovely and we’re all getting excited about the concerts, which are now only two days away! A dinner of home cooked pizzas and plums in brandy set us in good stead for another evening of music and, of course, rum.
