The lineup for this year’s Purbeck Valley Folk Festival just keeps getting better but they have pulled out all stops this year with their latest announcement that Richard Thompson will headline their Friday night. Richard will be performing solo, a rare opportunity and a great start to this brilliant family friendly festival which takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend of 27-30 August. Paul Burkes, one of the organisers of the festival, told me today he was “absolutely chuffed to bits to have booked the great man himself for the festival.”
Those of you that follow FRUK will know that Richard has been busy recording a new studio album which was produced by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. It was recorded in Chicago at The Loft, Jeff Tweedy’s own studio:
Check this solo NPR Desk Concert Richard did back in 2011 performing tracks from his 20th solo album, Dream Attic.
Also returning to the festival this year are some other great names including Megson, Martha Tilston & the Scientists, Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin and the ever-popular Moulettes.
We’ll see you there!
