Our Song of the Day comes from a band we can’t seem to get enough of at the moment. Made up of Ben Nicholls (The Full English, Seth Lakeman Band), Richard Warren and Evan Jenkins (Neil Cowley Trio) I am of course referring to Kings of the South Seas whose eponymous debut album we recently reviewed here.
Weary Whaling Grounds is their first single from the album which was inspired by the adventures of the 19th Century British whalers in the South Seas. Far from glorifying those days the smell of death mentioned in the lyrics permeates strongly through the blood tinted images in the video and the brutal sound of the music, let alone the lyrics which are full of repent for the evil they’ve done.
