I’ve been really looking forward to sharing this premiere since it landed with us at the weekend – it’s the new video from Stick in the Wheel for Hasp, the second track which can be found on their new 7″ released via Static Caravan on Feb 23rd 2015.
Hasp is a song about a horse. This sparse and deliberate track describes the horse’s seemingly endless work-bound tethered existence “we’re bred for work that’s never done”; a metaphor for a life that sees liberty as a fleeting notion that must be grasped at the first opportunity. It was recorded live at dusk in the Tudor oak-panelled dining room of Sutton House in Homerton, shortly before a concert.
The video was made by broadcaster, photographer and filmmaker Toby Amies.
In case you missed the news Stick In The Wheel have recently been nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in two categories: the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Act, and for Best Traditional Song (Bedlam).
Common Ground / Hasp 7″ released February 23rd via Static Caravan (300 edition 7” in hand printed sleeves).
