We’re very pleased to premiere in full ‘The Joy of Waiting’, the highly anticipated new studio album from Sara Lowes who plays keys in The Earlies – known for their mix of obscure Psychedelic, Progressive, Leftfield and Country influences.
Whilst The Earlies hint at her diverse styles and influences those artists she has worked also represent a vast spectrum of music including Daniel Johnston, King Creosote, Jens Lakeman, Jim Noir, Jesca Hoop and Dawn Landes – a roster that’s as much a mark of the respect she’s held in by others as it is a reflection on her own musical versatility which defies any genre binding, something she makes no secret of on ‘The Joy of Waiting’.
The description of “Imagine Feist and Cate Le Bon with Stereolab’s songbook” seems a clever and apt one yet she’s also in a field of her own. You just can’t ring-fence this kind of talent – a diverse and refreshing bit of genius.
Recorded at home and at the band’s studio in Colne, Lancashire, the long-player was self-produced alongside her saxophonist Nicky Madden (The Earlies, I am Kloot). The album was mixed and mastered by Gareth Cousins an ex-Abbey Road Studios engineer whose credits include Roger Daltrey, Elvis Costello and The Stranglers.
