Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best as this video for Michael Feuerstack’s Clackity Clack demonstrates. Made by his friend Ian Roy, the video manages to capture a sense of anticipation, frustration and repetition, with just one shot, while Michael’s sonorous tones and the clever, careful orchestration turn the song into something special.
As his website puts it, “Singer and songwriter, gentleman and liar, gadfly and firefly and fall guy, indispensable, Michael Feuerstack is a man who lives and makes music in Montreal.” FRUK regulars may well know him better under the Snailhouse alias, or through association with Paper Beats Scissors (a.k.a.Tim Crabtree), who describes his friend as practically a Canadian music institution, with numerous other band and production credits including Tim’s stunning debut.
The song is taken from the imminent release of Michael’s own The Forgettable Truth and Feuerstack is currently playing dates around Europe, before jetting in for two London shows early next week, the returning to Canada for more dates towards the end of March. We’ll have a full review of the record to follow.
