We have a great video premiere today from Sarah Dollar and Jon Rixon a duo from Salisbury and Newbury who are better known as The Paper Shades. The track is an acoustic version of The Lake which features on their forthcoming Double A Side single (Home / Strong).
We were so moved by this song we’ve also chosen ‘The Lake’ as our Song of the Day. The combined acoustic and electric guitar work so well, nothing is overdone, it’s their restraint which makes it work, opening space to allow Sarah’s vocals to really soar as well as creating an atmosphere and warmth that just draws you in. These two are going places, I guarantee it. Watch the video below which was recorded and filmed live at Monnow Valley Studios.
The new single is released on Friday 13th February 2015 via Indie Kitchen Records and is their first major release since 2012’s “Where You Lay” EP and the first for Indie Kitchen Records.
The good news doesn’t stop there however as they are about to embark on an ‘Indie Kitchen Tour’ with Hot Feet as the headline act. You all know how much of a fan we are of Hot Feet (read our recent review here) and these two acts together will make one hell of a tour so make sure you grab the opportunity while you can.
