I think today’s Song of the Day is probably the longest we’ve featured clocking in at 10:21. Despite the length (and it is all the better for it) there is plenty of twists and turns going on within the arrangements to make this such a great track, by the time I’d reached the finale I’d lost all concept of time.
The song is from British Columbia based artist Ryan Beattie who goes under the name of Himalayan Bear (featuring a revolving lineup of talented musical friends). This alternative version features on a free album titled Moonlight and Rain: one, part of an ongoing project which also includes some great covers incl. Nick Cave and Patsy Cline. The song will also feature on his forthcoming LP No Golden Kingdom.
