Warwick Folk Festival (23 – 26 July 2015) have a great line-up this year which kicks off on the Thursday 23rd July with a special concert from Billy Bragg who was Awarded the Roots Award at the BBC Folk Awards last year. He was presented it by none other than Martin Carthy who recalled when they first met when Billy admitted to being a Watersons fan and that he and his roadie (Andy Kershaw) used to sing Waterson songs to each other.
The Demon Barbers are also performing at the festival with a new repertoire, extra band members and a modern twist to their multi-award winning Roadshow which showcases their new album Disco at the Tavern – a collaboration with Grammy & Emmy Award winners Donal Hodgson and Kipper, best known for their work with Sting.
There are plenty of other acts to get excited about who have been creating waves this year as you can from the list below. The Young’Uns, The Will Pound Band, Nancy Kerr and The Sweet Visitor Band, Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar have all released new albums this year and Mischa MacPherson has had an incredible year winning the BBC Young Folk Award as well as just picking up the Gaelic Singer of the Year award at the Scots Trad Music Awards.
